01Data controller
The data controller responsible for your personal data is Strnger, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. You can reach our privacy team at privacy@strnger.com.
02Our commitment
Strnger handles deeply personal conversations, so data protection is not a checkbox for us — it is part of the product. We follow the GDPR principles: we collect the minimum, use it only for clear purposes, keep it only as long as needed, secure it, and give you genuine control.
We treat information about your wellbeing as a special category of data under Article 9 GDPR and process it only with your explicit consent.

04How to exercise your rights
To exercise any right, email privacy@strnger.com from the account associated with your request, or use the in-app data controls where available. We will:
- Respond within one month (extendable by two further months for complex requests, in which case we will tell you).
- Verify your identity proportionately, to protect your data from unauthorised requests.
- Handle your request free of charge in normal circumstances.
05Consent & sensitive data
Because Strnger involves mental-health-related data, we rely on your explicit consent to process it. You give that consent when you choose to use the app and start a conversation, and you can withdraw it at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.
06International transfers
We aim to keep personal data within the EU/EEA. Where a provider processes data outside the EEA, we rely on legally recognised safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure an adequate level of protection.
07Complaints
If you believe we have not handled your data properly, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
